Making the Case for the Middle: The Potential of Middle Housing Production in Alberta
By Canadian Urban Institute
By mddl
Making the Case for the Middle, in collaboration with mddl, explores the potential of middle housing to alleviate Alberta’s housing challenges, scale production and meet demand by 2030. Middle housing includes a range of housing types, including duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, courtyard apartments, and live/work housing types.
This work produced a number of key findings that influence and inform the potential for increased middle housing production in Alberta:
- Middle housing as a solution
- Actions beyond re-zoning
- Importance of effective public engagement
- The potential of citizen-development
- Opportunities for building innovation
Making the Case for the Middle was made possible through a grant from the Alberta Real Estate Foundation.
